Meet David Spragens
David Spragens has helped families and nonprofits plan for their futures throughout his 45-year career.
Raised in central Kentucky, David attended Denison University and graduated from Centre College and the Wake Forest University School of Law. He served as a prosecutor, defense attorney, and university counsel before moving to Nashville over 30 years ago as the Director of Planned Giving for the Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
After stints in the estate settlement departments at the former Third National and First American Banks, he returned to higher education fundraising, relocating to Sewanee in 2004 to direct the capital campaign gift planning program at the University of the South. In 2008 he came back to Nashville to establish a gift planning program at Alive Hospice, where he previously served as a member of the board.
A founding member of the Nashville Planned Giving Counsel and former president of the Nashville Estate Planning Counsel, David is a member of the Nashville Bar Association and a former member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. He is a trained family mediator.
